The Liverpool striker scored the opener as Spain beat Sweden 2-1 to book their place in the quarter final of Euro 2008.

Torres put Spain 1-0 up after quarter of an hour but Sweden equalised before the break through Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The game looked like it was going to end in a draw but in injury time Torres flicked the ball on for David Villa and the Valencia striker scored a late winner.

Russia beat Greece in the other game in Group D which means Spain have definitely qualified for the quarter finals as group winners. This means Luis Aragones will likely rotate his squad for the final group game against Greece giving Xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina and Alvaro Arbeloa a chance to play.
