The knock to his knee, picked up in the midweek win over Benfica, ruled Torres out of yesterday's draw with Fulham. The striker will now see a specialist to assess the injury.
"He has a problem with his knee. He's gone to see a specialist and we are waiting for news," said Rafael Benitez yesterday.
"We don't know yet. It depends on what the specialist says tomorrow. He had a problem before and we were trying to protect him."
