UEFA president wants Reds to defend title

Despite winning the European Cup, Liverpool are set to miss out on next season's competition after only finishing fifth in the league. However, UEFA's executive committee are under pressure from various sources to relent and allow the Reds entry, including their own president.

Johansson said: "The winner should have a chance to defend the title.
 
"We must sit down to see if there is a way to make it happen. If there is a rule that harms the tournament, we have to discuss changing the rule."
