UEFA want to see Premiership reduced

Last updated : 28 June 2004 By Al Campbell
Following the premature exits from Euro 2004 by teams with an 18-20-team top flight, such as England, Italy, France, Spain and Germany, UEFA are considering making all top divisions 16 teams or less.

UEFA believe the premature exits of England, France etc is down to tiredness after playing too many games.

If the Premiership does become a sixteen team league it will mean an end to the Merseyside derby as Everton will be relegated.
