Despite the defeat, the Reds put in a good performance and were worthy of at least a draw with Calum Woods' header against the crossbar the closest John Owens' side came to a goal.

Owen said: "The match was a good advert for Academy football and played very well. There was a lot of quality out there.

"Although we are disappointed to lose the game it was a very good team performance and I have to be pleased with that."
