It was another poor performance from John Owens' side and were it not for some very good goalkeeping from Paul Lancaster the result could have been much worse.

The match ended in some controversy when James Frayne was sent off for punching a Blackburn defender who made a racist remark to him.

Owens said: "We support James in his battle against racism and while we back him we also do not condone his reaction.

"As for the game it was a very poor performance and we were second best for the whole game. It could easily have been more than 1-0 and that is as poor as we have been all season.

"I thought out of the players out there only James Smith, Paul Lancaster and Danny O'Donnell can hold their head up high. The other eight were all way below the standard we expect. Whether the usual standard is good enough is another question."
