The equaliser was a penalty after goalkeeper David Roberts was harshly adjudged to have brought down the Baggies striker. If the penalty was harsh, the red card shown to Roberts was especially so. Striker Ray Putterill went in goal for the final five minutes but was unable to save the spot-kick and the Reds were denied their second win of the season.
