Under 18's win

John Owens' side took the lead through midfielder Charlie Barnett before Craig Lindfield made it 2-0 when he converted a cross from Ray Putterill. Crewe pulled one back in the 75th minute but Conal Platt killed off any hopes of an equaliser when he added the Reds third just before the end.

Coach John Owens said: "Sometimes you get matches where you don't get what you deserve. We have played numerous games where we have performed well and maybe lost or only got a draw.

"But I have to be honest and say it was the opposite on aturday. We got more than we probably deserved from the match.

"We didn't deserve to lose. Crewe played well and will feel a little but aggrieved not to have got something. On the balance of play a draw would have been a fair result.

"We are happy to take the points and it keeps us going. It is good to keep scoring also, but we know we can do better."

Liverpool visit league leaders Blackburn Rovers tomorrow knowing a win will take them top of the table.
