Under 18's win

After initally struggling to get a win on board, the under 18's are now starting to get the results their play has deserved. Saturday's 1-0 defeat of third placed Blackburn Rovers was an impressive result.

As they have on many occasions this season, Liverpool took control of the game early on and dominated throughout the match. The Reds created plenty of chances and should really have added to Ray Putterill's second half strike.

"It was a really good performance and I am really pleased with the lads," Academy coach John Owens told the club's official website.

"Blackburn were a physical side but we battled well and played some good football. Michael Collins headed against the bar and Ryan Wignall went close before Ray scored a good goal.

"We could have won by more than the one goal and Ben Parsonage had a great chance to make it 2-0 when he was clean through but we got the three points and it was deserved."
