A series of fine performances at the start of last season had seemingly cemented Vignal's position as first choice left back. A number of niggling injuries since then, though, had seen the French under-21 international fall out of Gerard Houllier's plan.
Vignal believes that his time back in his native country can help him find the form that had made him an instant success on Merseyside.
Vignal told L'Equipe: "To play at Liverpool you must be at your very best and that was not really the case for me. I was injured a lot and had a triple fracture in my foot."
"The loan is perfect for me and for Bastia too. In June, I hope to return to Liverpool and return to play."
