Warnock hoping for more chances

Warnock made his Liverpool debut in the 2-1 away win over AK Graz in the Champions League qualifier first leg and has since played 22 times for the club.

Warnock is happy with the contribution he has made to the campaign so far but is hoping for a run in the side so he can prove he is capable of becoming a first eleven regular.

Warnock said: "If you had turned round to me at the start of the season and said you would play 15 games before Christmas I would have probably laughed and said I don't think so! At the moment it's gone as well as can be and I just wish it was more games now.

"I think that's the way you've got to look at it once you get in there and show you can do it. You want more games and want to prove yourself more often and play against the better players.

"I always had the belief that I could get into the first team, I wouldn't have come back here if I didn't think I could have done that. At the moment I just want to play all the time and be involved all the time.

"I think what you've got to understand is Liverpool is a massive club and I'm not at Coventry now where the squad is very bare and if you got a couple of injuries you'd have to throw the young lads in. Here there are so many squad players so it's no shame you not getting into the squad. You've just got to get your head down and work hard in training and hopefully get back in the squad.

"I'd just love to get in the first team and hold a place down on a regular basis and prove to everyone I can do it and help the team get that fourth place. Once you get in to the team you want to cement your place and be a regular in the squad all the time. I would just love to get a run in the team to show the manager what I could do.

"I don't mind playing left back or left midfield but the manager has played me mostly at left back this season and I like that."
