Warnock hoping for Super Cup success

Despite playing a big part in Liverpool's Champions League success last season Warnock missed out on a winners medal. However, he is hoping to put that right tonight and earn the first winners medal of his career as the Reds face CSKA Moscow in the Super Cup in Monaco.

"We're all desperate to win trophies and be successful this season and we can start off by winning the Super Cup on Friday," he said.

"I've never won anything with Liverpool and I've never been involved in a final so that's why Friday's game is extra special for me. I want to be involved and play my part in helping us win a trophy. If it happens then it would complete a brilliant week for me on a personal level.

"I'm really looking forward to the game and can't wait for it to start. To be involved around a cup final is massive and I'm so desperate to enjoy the occasion, if selected of course.

"If we win it will give us a lot of confidence for the rest of the season. We're involved in six trophies this year and we want to win them all. It's going to be hard but that's our aim.

"I watched CSKA a couple of times last year against Chelsea and they looked a very good team. I also saw them in the UEFA Cup final and it's obvious they have a lot of quality.

"They don't have any household names but they're full of great players. We don't know too much about Russian players in this country but from what I've seen they're a top quality side. We're going to have to be organised and ready for them because they will give us problems if we're not at our best."
