He said: "You look at what Dion Dublin did for Aston Villa on Saturday, what Alan Shearer does at Newcastle and what Gary McAllister did for us while he was here. He had a tremendous impact for us.
"Players like that offer a lot of leadership and experience. Villa have had their problems this season, but Dublin seemed to show a rallying spirit for the rest of the players which helped them.
"You have to remember our players are still young and they will learn from this experience."
