We can play with freedom

Last Sunday's Worthington Cup triumph ensured Liverpool's passage into next seasons UEFA Cup. The target now, of course, is to win a Champions League spot. Saturday's victory over Bolton showed little signs of a renewed vigour for attacking football, but the three points did allow the Reds to move to within three points of Everton.

Houllier said: "It's a relief to be in Europe already so I think we can be more free, there is no pressure on the players now," claims Gerard. "I don't know why we manage to do so well in the final 10 games. Maybe it's just that final push. Some players are better than others with their backs to the wall and when they have to deliver. All the players want to be in the Champions League next season so that it is why every minute now counts."
