We will learn from this season

Gerard Houllier's men must claim all three points at Stamford Bridge this Sunday if they are to finish fourth and take the final Champions League spot. Even if the Reds do win, they will still be thirteen points and two places below their league position last season. Worthington Cup success against bitter rivals Manchester United cannot hide the fact that this has been a season of underachievement at Anfield. Crevoisier agrees, but he feels the Merseysiders wil learn from their mistakes.

Crevoisier said: "You don't grow as a team without difficulties, I really believe that. You can learn from defeat and I am sure we will be better for the experiences we have been through this season when we come back next year.

"We are a young team and we will be a better team in the future and we will really achieve something together.

"Don't forget we made a great start to this season. We were only a few minutes away from making the best start to the Premiership season ever. But then after we lost at Middlesbrough the confidence of some of our players was affected and we struggled to get over that."

"We were down after the weekend but now we know our season rests on one game," he said. "We are a brave team and we are confident we can go and win at Chelsea on Sunday. It won't be easy but we can get the points and qualify for the Champions League.

"We have taken 37 steps in our league season so far and now there is just the one to go. I hope we can produce a good performance and win the game. That will be our aim.
