Wenger still respects Reds

Wenger, whose Arsenal side face the ailing Reds at Highbury tomorrow, admits he is not surprised to see Liverpool suffering a loss of form.

"It's part of football that when you don't win you are criticised," said Wenger. "What was good is suddenly bad - it's something you have to accept. But what is bad can become good again.

"I've not been that surprised to see Liverpool struggle because we hit a bad patch as well and you know it is going to be difficult until you get your confidence back.

"We had a bad patch and lost four in a row and it affected our confidence. But it can also help the team to re-focus."
