We're all to blame says Gerrard

England have scored just one goal in their last five matches and the strikers are coming in for a lot of criticism. However, Steven Gerrard says the midfield should be chipping in with goals as well and are just as culpable as the forward line.

"We've lacked a bit of a cutting edge and a sharpness in the final third against Israel to deserve the victory," said the Liverpool captain.

"Why is that? I can't put my finger on it. We've got players who can score goals.

"You see that week in and week out in the Premiership but we've struggled over the last four or five internationals in front of goal.

"We need to improve in the final third but you can't just put it down to the strikers. You've got to blame the six or seven players in the final third.

"It's down to myself, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon and the rest of the midfield to help the forwards to score goals. You can't just put the responsibility on the strikers."
