Hyypia to the rescue as Wolves worry Houllier
“CHAMPIONS League?” sang the Wolves support. “You’re having a laugh!” For 91 minutes, the joke was funny. Then, in the second of three minutes of stoppage time, Sami Hyypia rose above Paul Butler at the far post to meet a Steven Gerrard corner and ram a header past Paul Jones.

An injury-time header from defender Sami Hyypia - greeted with relief, tinged with a fair amount of embarrassment - finally saw off Wolves,whose last away win in the top flight was 20 years ago in the old First Division.

After all the bold talk that followed their return to winning form against Portsmouth last Wednesday, another relegation candidate exposed Liverpool's shortcomings at Anfield. Sami Hyypia's goal spared the manager the need to explain another costly loss of points but could not disguise a disjointed, unconvincing performance, even though the Finn's winning deed, an unstoppable far-post header from Steven Gerrard's left-wing corner, lifted them at least temporarily into the Champions' League places.
