When the spit hits the fan

The Senegal star spat at Hoops fan Daniel Schiavone after an altercation with members of the Celtic Park crowd during the Reds' UEFA Cup tie with the Scottish giants in March 2003.

The £10m man appeared to put the controversy behind him when an apology and a trip to Anfield seemed to have placated the then eighteen-year-old supporter.

Diouf received a £5,000 fine at Glasgow Sherrif Court upon pleading guilty to the charge of assault under provocation, but lawyers representing Schiavone filed their claim against the Liverpool player and the Merseyside club at the same venue just two weeks ago.

Schiavone now has twelve months to serve a writ against Diouf, with the club and player given a 21-day period to lodge an intention to defend themselves against the claim.

What do you think of this supporter's damages claim?
