Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-1 in Sunday's Community Shield clash and man of the match Momo Sissoko says the win will give the Reds the confidence to have a serious tilt at the title.

"We've made a good start. Everybody worked hard for this victory, which was very important. We also have another trophy, which means a lot to us," said the Mali international.

"Chelsea are a good team with a lot of good players, but now they know how well Liverpool can play against them, and that's why this game was significant.

"I was happy with my performance, but all the players played well. When the whole team is good, it's even better for me. It was nice to be named man-of-the-match in a game where we've won a trophy.

"There are a lot of strong teams in the Premiership this year. Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham are also good.

"We know we have a good chance. We know it's possible we can win the championship, but we must remember our first ambitions. First we must beat Sheffield United and then Maccabi Haifa. I think these are the objectives we should concentrate on for now."
