Wrexham happy with Reds deal

Following on from tonight's money-spinning friendly with the League One outfit, Liverpool will also further boost Wrexham's club coffers by appearing at the Racecourse throughout next season.

The ties quickly developed between the two clubs will lead many to believe that the Welsh team could be a testing ground for the developing youth at Melwood, but Smith is quick to insist that is unlikely to happen.

Smith said: "There are no disadvantages to Wrexham at all from this arrangement and the club will no doubt make some money which has got be a good thing.

"But Liverpool will always make decisions about loans which are right for their players and I can't imagine they will do us any special favours. Why would they send players on loan to Second Division clubs when there are plenty of First Division clubs who will be equally as keen to bring in promising young players at some stage during the season?

"It might happen for us but fans should not read more into the current arrangement for their reserves to play at the Racecourse than there is."
