Xabi scores in Spain victory

Alonso scored a rare headed goal from a corner to give Spain a 13th minute lead before David Villa, a supposed Reds target netted from a deflected free kick four minutes later.

After the break Villa converted a contentious penalty, which saw Ukraine reduced to 10 men and Fernando Torres scored a fourth.

Alonso was substituted after 55 minutes and Luis Garcia lasted 77 minutes before coming off while Pepé Reina was on the bench.
