Liverpool defender Abel Xavier insists that Gerard Houllier has transformed the Reds with the team he has built at Anfield.
Out have gone some real wasters, talented but not committed players and in have come a group of true professionals who give their all, all of the time.
"Gerard is an excellent manager and he's a person for whom I have a tremendous amount of respect," said the former Blue nose.
"I believe he has totally transformed this club over the last few seasons and, under his guidance, I have no doubts we can go on to even greater things.
"He's impressed me greatly so far through the talks he's given to us before games. It's tremendous to see him around the training ground again, but more importantly, it's pleasing to see he's managed to overcome his illness."
