Xavier joins Galatasaray

Despite Gerard Houllier's recent comments that Xavier would not be allowed to join Gala on loan, the Liverpool boss has backtracked because of lack of interest from other clubs to sign him on a permanent deal.

"Abel will go on loan for the remainder of the season," Gerard Houllier told reporters. "They will then have an option to buy."
