Xavier said:"It has been a difficult time for me. Sometimes in football and in life there are things that you can't control and this has been the case with me.
"I lost a lot of strength and a lot of weight. I went to a specialist abroad and I was more relaxed about the situation when he told me there was a problem and that it was affecting my immune system. At least I knew there was a problem and it could be treated.
"I received a lot of good support from the manager and the club and that helped me a lot. I feel good now and I was happy to come through the game against Ipswich last week. I still feel as though I can go up another level in terms of strength and fitness, but I'm sure that will come with time.
"All I want to do now is get back to my best level and try to play as many games as I can."
