The Portuguese defender, who played his last game for Liverpool exactly a year ago before joining Galatasaray on loan last January, is hoping to start afresh back in his home country.
"I have a contractual situation that I am unhappy with. In the next week I will be in Liverpool where I will resolve my future with the club," he said.
Xavier was released by Galatasaray last summer and is now rumoured to be set to join Benfica.
