The defeat has ended their chances of clinching the League title, with City going five points clear at the top of the table.

"Obviously we're disappointed with the result, but we have to be fair and give credit to Manchester City," manager John Owens told the club's official site. "We're disappointed, but it's not as if we've lost a game that we should have won.

"We had chances in the first-half, Smyth had a great chance in the second-half and had they gone in, it may have been different, but that's how it goes in a tight situation."

Team: Harrison, Raven, Whitbread, McNulty, Nicholas, Vaughan, Wright (Massie 86), Potter, Peers (Butler 34), Gillespie, Smyth.
