Liverpool had goalkeeper Paul Willis to thank for their point who became the first keeper to keep a clean sheet against City this season.

Coach John Owens said: "It was a great game and end to end with both sides having good chances.

"We had chances but they were all off target and failed to test their keeper Casper Schmeichel, Peter's son, while our keeper Paul Willis made three superb saves.

"We have to be pleased with the point and I thought we played very well and Jordan Holmes played his first 90 minutes of the season which was pleasing."
