Zenden injury blow

Zenden has picked up a knee ligament injury in training and will be out for around six weeks. With Xabi Alonso unlikely to fit until the weekend, Steven Gerrard is the only fit central midfielder at the club.

Rafael Benitez may be forced to play Jamie Carragher as a holding midfielder against Portsmouth tomorrow, or look to promote someone from the reserves.
