The Spurs defender had to have five stitches after colliding with Coventry City's Patrick Suffo.

"Someone said to me it's just a little one for me and it is just a setback, I needed five stitches, I have a big eye but I'm okay and training again," he said.

"It's a bit sad because I thought if I played 90 minutes on Monday I might have a chance of being in the squad against Liverpool."

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Middlesbrough now have a date for their High Court hearing regarding Ziege's transfer in August 2000.

Boro are claiming over £6.5million in damages from Liverpool in a row which dates back to the German defender's £5.5m move.

The case is set for 22nd March.
