Telling it as it is...
After that game we went to Ipswich and we followed up our excellent form by
thrashing them 6-0 - an incredible score line against a team who had won 7
of there last 8 games, so that made it 10 goals in just two away games
FANTASTIC! And I was really chuffed to see Xavier score his first goal for
Liverpool on his debut and I thought he played really well and will become a
really good asset to the Liverpool side. Hyypia also headed in a goal and
Michael Owen and Emile Heskey both grabbed two each, I thought this was the
best reds performance I have seen in ages we were excellent. Gerrard, Heskey and Owen were on fire and Danny Murphy and Riise's work rate were fantastic
and it was good to see hamann and Gerrard commanding the midfield
brilliantly.

An excellent day out an it sent us shooting back up the table, I just hope we can keep up such displays for the rest of the season an we shouldn't have a problem keeping up with the top teams. But after saying that our next premiership game was against Everton and we messed up big style, we need to win games like that if we are going to be a serious challenge for the title but we managed to only pull of a 1-1 draw, even that was lucky as we had gone behind and it took an Nicolas Anelaka strike to save us from embarrassment. At half time the score was 0-0 and the game was still open but Everton grabbed a goal through Thomaz Radzinski early on in the second half, which had us chasing the game. All our efforts didn't seem to be working but we finally got our equaliser with the unlikeliest of players Anelka grabbing the goal. While Anelka has been at Anfield he hasn't had too many chances to shine but still when he has been given the chance he has found it difficult to score, so I was really pleased to see it was him who got our goal. The game ended 1-1 and I was very disappointed because that to me is seen as two points lost rather than 1
point gained, as we have slipped further behind the leaders Manchester
United and the title seems to be slipping from our grasp. If we are to keep
on challenging then We have to keep up performances like we did at Ipswich
then we really can be seen as a threat to the title.

Also since the last time I updated my column we have played two champions
league games both against Galatasaray, the first we drew 0-0 and I was really
disappointed because in that game we messed up chances I felt we could have
easily put away, and although they dominated parts of the game I still feel
we could have won it. The next time we played them was at Galatasary's
ground and we again drew 1-1, this was quite a good result as many teams
find it difficult to get a result at this ground, and once again we had to
come from behind, this time it was Heskey who saved the game for us.

Although these don't seem terrible results I am gutted because this has left
us still at the bottom of the table, and we have been set almost the
impossible task of having to beat both Barcelona and Roma to go on to the
next round of the champions league. So let's just say I am not going to get
my hopes up yet, lets just see how it goes.
