Southampton 2-0 Liverpool - fan match report

I am ashamed to say I left ten minutes before the end, such was my frustration at watching a team that took to the pitch and never looked that interested in a
game that could have taken them back to the top of the premiership, all be it
joint with Leeds.

I commented after the game to my mate that I had travelled with, "its not in
itself the fact the we lost that game its the manner in which we lost it"

A few home truths..........devoid of ideas........lacking in
creativity.........poor passing...........no conviction.........Smicer were
you injured? or was that just the worst display of anyone ever to put a red
shirt on in a first team game, I would like to know because fair is fair if
you played with an injury then I can accept that practically every pass you
made went astray and the fact that you walked round until the substitution
with your head down looking like you wanted to be somewhere else, and I am a
fan of yours!

At half time when it was still 0-0 and we had everything to play for my mate
said, "there's something wrong here, they've all got their heads down" and
he was right, in fact that's how they played for the rest of the game, with
no real intent or purpose, it seemed like we had to concede two goals to get
a reaction!

Has the belief gone ? Because it seems there is a disturbing trend of
capitulation developing and the most worrying thing is the players don't
seem to be happy with their roles, I would go as far to say as they don't
seem to know what is required of them.

We desperately need width to supply arguably the best forwards in the
premiership, in Owen, Anelka, Litmanen and Heskey we have amazing quality
but to be honest their potency is being severely impaired by a lack of
quality delivery. Hamann to me is an unsung hero but he needs Gerrard in the
middle with him and we need width outside of them.

Come back please Marcus Babbel and GH.
