New Anfield

Liverpool Football Club have finally announced their plans for a new stadium to be built on Stanley Park.

The 55,000 seater state-of-the-art complex is only 300 yards from the current ground and is expected to be ready by 2005 and will keep the name, Anfield.

Public opinion is split about the move, with many fans seeing it as a necessary step to take to achieve the success that Liverpool Football Club deserves.

Other fans, including LFC Online columnist, Alan Edge who, together with Will Melia and Tim Kelly set up Anfield4ever to take action against such a move believe it would be a massive mistake to leave the club's sacred home.

Initial propositions on a new stadium had originally involved the building of a 70,000 capacity ground, but chief executive Rick Parry says that this reduction in capacity is necessary to allow Gerard Houllier the finances needed for new players while allowing the club to expand in the future.
