Not too long ago, we had Souness who could boss the midfield, set up Terry McD for a fair number of goals, and later on, we had Steve McMahon who was pretty useful himself with a number of goals from midfield. Today, apart from Stevie G and Didi Hamann, we have Murphy who seems to have forgotten how to score and Berger who has scored just one beauty against Boro and hasn't done an awful lot otherwise. Smicer is just bollocks and Riise hasn't fired in a decent shot since his rocket against the United Scum (his goal against Arsenal was not a long range shot so it doesn't count in my books).
Don't you think if the midfield lads weighed in with a few more goals, our Michael, Nic and Emile would find the pressure lifted significantly? Which brings me to who do you think we should buy to replace Berger, Jamie, Jari (whom I feel will be sold in the Summer), Barmby (I don't think he will be the same player he was prior to his injuries), Igor (who has impressed me with being a headless chook, full of energy and absolutely clueless). With the money we would get for that lot, David Dunn looks like a good bet (though I doubt Souey would sell him to us). Alternatively, couldn't we buy Matt Holland who, for me, has been really good for Ipswich even when they were absolutely appalling earlier in the season?

Yes Lionel, the midfield need to get their arses in action and not in the sense that you maybe custom to! Seriously though they are not delivering, none of them. Smicer is a complete waste of space and he'd find it hard getting in most Premiership sides. He was bought to replace Steve McManaman...replace what exactly, he isnt fit to lace Macca's boots! United won the league last season and spent tens of millions in the summer, Liverpool supporters need to wake up and realise that this club is not going to win anything this season. Hurry up back Gerard, we're useless without you! I'd like to mention Steve McMahon - WE'VE NEVER REPLACED HIM!!!

WE NEED TO BUY A MIDFIELD PLAYMAKER, SOMEONE WITH THE FLAIR TOUCH AND VISION OF THE MOLBY DAYS. I RECKON THATS THE MISSING PIECE IN THE JIGSAW AND THE SOONER LFC SORT IT OUT THE SOONER WE'LL WIN THE PREMIERSHIP AND THE EUROPEAN CUP.

Anyway, fake Guru, what do you think of the Overmars links? If we could get
him for 10m, it would be a fantastic signing. We need some midfielders with
some pace and creativity. We've got loads of central midfield players, but
none who can break teams down when we need to. That's why we get so many
bloody home draws against crap like Fulham, Everton, Bolton etc. Overmars
would link up the midfield and attack brilliantly and give us the cutting
edge we need. We could sell the ponce Smicer then.

Hi Kop Guru, great to see regular updates back on what is the most
interesting part of the site.
Unfortunately, after a few wins Liverpool have returned to their usual drawing ways, and are again finding it difficult to score. OK, against Galatasary we had a number of good chances and their goalkeeper turned in a man of the match performance. Still, Heskey and Murphy should have done better with their chances As for the Everton game, I think the two points dropped has scuppered our title chances as there is no way both the Scum and Arsenal are going to slip up. We just have to make sure we beat Newcastle
next week to stay with the pack. The problem in my opinion remains the same - Heskey (I know you like him) is simply not a top class striker, after a few good games he is back to his usual self. The midfield needs strenghening, Smicer, Berger, Biscan, Redknapp should all be sold to raise some money for better players. Jari -
what a waste of an excellent signing, we all know he will leave at the end of the season, and who can blame him when he has watched from the bench all season as Heskey puts in average/bad performances and still gets picked next week. Plus, the training ground bust-up, did this involve the big nosed mouthpiece as in the Fowler incident. If so somebody wants to tell PT to
shut up before he allienates the entire team.

Yes Glenn we do need some major recruiting. Liverpool fans seemed to have been conned into some kind of "nicey, nicey" breed in that everything is ok and I dont think that it is. The midfield is very poor. Hamann and Gerrard are safe but what of Smicer, Berger, Biscan, Redknapp, Diomede, Murphy and McAllister? Heskey is no Robbie Fowler, a different guy completely. I agree with everything you say. We may have won those cups last season but we should build on that, this season we have not and this was a huge mistake. The board have conned us.
